The subjects for the developmental research were 90 gifted students in first through third grade in junior high schools. They were asked to complete the “Emotional Intelligence Scale” (EIS). . The subjects for the experimental study were 40 gifted students in 2nd grade drawn from two classes in two junior high schools. Nineteen students in one class were assigned to the experimental group, and 21 students in the other class to the control group. The experimental group received the “Emotional Education Program”(EEP), while the control group received the regular guidance and counseling program. The scores between the experimental group and the control group in the “Emotional Intelligence Scale” (EIS), the” Life Adjustment Scale”(LAS), the “ Mathematical Achievement Test ”(MAT), and the “ Science Achievement Test ” (SAT) were compared. The main findings were as follows: 1. There were no significant differences in the scores of EIS among gifted students in different grade, and between gifted students with and without grade skipping placement.. 2. The female outperformed significantly the male in EIS. 3. The experimental group outperformed significantly the control group in some factors of EIS. 4. The experimental group outperformed significantly the control group in some factors of LAS. 5. There were no significant differences in MAT and the SAT between the experimental group and the control group. Jung-tsai Wang Ph.D 汪榮才 2007 學位論文 ; thesis 98 zh-TW
