However, the interlaced scanning produces line flicker and other artificial effects. In order to provide high vision quality image for the display of the multimedia computer and digital television, the de-interlacing algorithm is proposed for converting the interlaced signals to the progressive signals. The current NTSC system uses the interlaced scan technique to display video sequence. However, the technique creates undesirable visual artifacts and makes the lines flicker, twitter, and crawl as results of the interlaced scan. Moreover, the new display systems support progressive scan in order to reduce artifacts in display and improve the quality of the picture. Thus, deinterlacing techniques are important to the quality of display. Motion adaptive de-interlacing has been used widely in various kinds of commercial products but the picture quality is still not good at motion area, Motion compensated and Motion detection de-interlacing solves this problem by interpolation along the motion trajectory and has become the next generation technology for de-interlacing.
