generation network technologies will be called Multi-Protocol Label
Switching. Here, we restrict our attention to the M/M/m system. In this
paper, mean delay time of MPLS systems with CPU number is analyzed
through M/M/m queuing model. We also derive the optimal number of
CPUs to minimize the mean delay time and to provide the guaranteed
performance in the network. This result allows us to achieve the
requested QoS requirements with a properly selection of reasonable
numbers of CPU number.
