Because of the large amount of the high concentration of IPA, the decomposition by traditional process or physical and biological disposal is not very well. This incomplete treatment of the waste-water will cause the injury on the living beings and environment. The purpose of this study is to discuss the differences between usingγ-ray radiolysis and UV photolysis to treat the IPA waste-water. In this experiment, , the result of γ-ray treatment is superior to ultraviolet photolysis. For example, theγ-ray can cause the37% decomposition in a 200ppm solution, but the 254nm ultraviolet can only be reached 3%. Furthermore, adding the hydrogen peroxide will improve the result, because the hydroxyl radical of hydrogen peroxide can cause the decomposition of IPA.
