This study examined the effects of various processing parameters on the weld strengths of hot plate welded parts. The materials used in the experiments included polystyrene, polypropylene as well as 20% and 30% glass fiber filled polypropylene composites. The effects of weld interface geometry as well as the processing conditions such as hot plate temperature, hot plate contact time, weld time, weld pressure and hold time were investigated. The temperature profiles in welded parts were also measured. For the parameters selected, hot plate temperature and hot plate contact time were the principal factors affecting the weld strengths of welded parts. In addition, the interface geometry was found to be influential for the weld strengths. The square interface was found to hot weld parts with the highest welding strengths. Keywords: hot plate welding, interface geometry, weld strengths, processing parameters 劉士榮 2007 學位論文 ; thesis 77 zh-TW
