Method: Eighteen males and fourteen females volunteers [age 20.22(2.62) yrs, height 168.25(10.02) cm, weight 64.26(14.00) kg] were recruited to participate this study. They were assigned into three groups as 80%HRmax HRC group, 70%HRmax HRC group and control group (without training), and then proceeded eight weeks ( 3 times/week and 30mins/time) of endurance running training. Training group kept 80% and 70% HRmax (220-ages) during each course. Every subject at pre- and post- training separately took the exercise test of gradual increasing load to measure VO2max、vVO2max and RSVHRC test by counter balance rule. One-way ANCOVA was employed to determine the difference among three groups before and after training. Result: VO2max improvement of 80%HRmax and 70%HRmax were both none significantly (p>.05) with control group ; improvement of vVO2max, 80% HRmax and 70% HRmax (10.95 ± 2.05 km/hr and 11.11 ± 1.39 km/hr ; 9.96 ± 1.22 km/hr and 10.27 ± 1.03 km/hr) were both significant (p<.05) higher than control group (10.33 ± 0.96 km/hr and 9.62 ± 0.95 km/hr). ; improvement of RSVHRC 80% HRmax and 70% HRmax (8.11 ± 1.64 km/hr and 8.47 ± 1.66 km/hr ; 7.00 ± 0.92 km/hr and 7.71 ± 1.17 km/hr) were both significant (p<.05) higher than control group (7.26 ± 1.42 km/hr and 7.71 ± 1.17 km/hr). Conclusion: Eight weeks of 80%HRmax and 70%HRmax HRC running training were both effective in improvement in vVO2max and RSVHRC, but would not improve VO2max.
