It impacts greatly on the disclosure of the financial reporting for the multinational corporations. More and more companies have to upgrade their financial reporting systems in order to comply with SOX requirement. Share Service concept has been implemented into multinational corporations and the enterprises rely on ERP systems to process transactions to generate financial reports. These financial reporting systems need to be centralized in order to produce reliable reports. Many corporations did not have appropriate internal control processes and documents before SOX was published. Therefore, SOX regulations increase not only SOX implementation costs but also maintenance and system upgrading costs. Currently, many of the financial reporting system design companies provide their products to help the enterprises minimize the business risks of their financial reporting systems and ensure the system controls would comply with SOX requirements. This research focused on SOX implementation procedures and its influences on the financial reporting systems. By interviewing the internal control experts, Oracle experts, and the Oracle 11i super users of a case company, we explored how SOX impacted on a popular ERP system – Oracle. The procedure employed by the case company to implement SOX and the corresponding Oracle control functionalities for the compliance with SOX requirements was reported.
