In the first part, we have synthesized a series of Re-based coordination compounds with 2-Pyridin-2-yl-1H-benzoimidazole and 2,2''-bis- (4,5-dimethyl imidazole). These compounds display luminescence properties in an acidic or neutral condition but in a basic condition the properties are quenched. The luminescence quenching mechanism is suggested due to deprotonation of imidazole, where photoinduced intramolecular charge transfer happens to quench the luminescence. The metal-ion recognition studies have also been carried in these. First, we use comlex 2 or 5 to recognize Zn2+,Cd2+ and Hg2+. They all shows the more special changes on the UV-visible spectra and emission spectra of complex 2 or 5 upon addition of Hg2+. In the second part, the coordination compounds of Zn2+ with N,N''-dipyridin-4-yl-isophthalamide(L) have been isolated and their crystal structures determined by X-ray diffraction studies. Anion influence on the structures of metal-organic frameworks has been observed. The reactions of L with ZnCl2, ZnBr2 and ZnI2 lead to the formation of 1D zigzag-chain coordination polymers, but for Zn(NO3)2 a 1D double zigzag-chain coordination polymer is obtained. The last part is to use N,N''-dipyridin-4-yl-isophthalamide (L) and N,N''-dipyridin-3-yl-isophthalamide (L'') as bridging ligands together with bis(diphenylphosphino)methane toward the construction of gold(I) supramolecules.
