Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立陽明大學 === 社區護理研究所 === 94 === The purpose of this study was to explore the relationship between work stress and quality of life perceived by nurses of long-term care facilities in Taipei city. This study used the cross-sectional research design and collected data by structural questionnaire. The research subjects were full-time nurses that worked in long-term care facilities in Taipei city, and served for more than three months. A total 242 questionnaires were distributed, 178 valid samples were received and the response rate was 73.6%. The results of the study were as follows:(1)The average age of nurses in long-term care facilities were 35.57 years old and most nurses were married. Most of them have worked less than one year. The average of their working duration was about 2.26 years.(2)The overall work stress was between the low to medium level. The knowledge skills brought the highest pressure, whereas the interpersonal relationship brought the lowest pressure to the nurses. The correlated factors of work stress were age, marital status, having or having no children, past working experience, working duration, working hours and working shift.(3)The entire quality of life showed medium level. The highest level showed the physical health, whereas the lowest level showed the psychological domain.(4)The work stress was negatively correlated to the entire quality of life. This indicated that more work stress caused worst quality of life in the nurses.(5)The significant predictors of the quality of life of subjects in this study were knowledge skills and work environment, which accounted for 25.4% of the variance. Between these two predictors, knowledge skills was accounted for 20.0% of the quality of life variance and work environment was 5.3%. The managers in long-term care facilities should investigate nurses’ needs before they plan the on-job training program for them. According to results of this study, the training curriculum could emphasize on improving nurses’ professional knowledge, new knowledge of the medical treatment, and care needs of residents. In addition, the improvement of the quality of work environment including the quantity and quality of equipments and facilities, maintaining comfortable temperature, and preventing noise and stuffiness in order to improve the quality of life of nurses’ was suggested.
