Summary: | 碩士 === 國立陽明大學 === 醫學工程研究所 === 94 === The aim of this study is to explore the association of pain cry and heart rate variability (HRV) of neonates. Using acoustic analysis and short time Fourier transform to analyze the cry sound and HRV, respectively, to find the relationship between two sets of parameter in different physiological states of neonate.
The experiment includes two parts. Before the neonate injecting hepatitis B vaccine, five minutes normal resting electrocardiogram (ECG) was recorded. During injection, ECG and cry sound were recorded simultaneously. Using spectral analysis to analyze normal resting HRV. Mean heart rate and standard deviation of the heart rate were calculated. On the other hand, in order to preserve the time information of events, using the short time Fourier transform to estimate the HRV during injection.
Using acoustic analysis technique to estimate the useful parameters of cry sound. The fundamental frequency was estimated by autocorrelation function (ACF) method. The power of spectrum of resting HRV was exhibited in very low frequency band and low frequency band. A respiratory peak was not detected in high frequency band. After comparing the results of cry sound and HRV, we found that the fundamental frequency is correlated with vagal tone. Decreased vagal tone is responsible for increased fundamental frequency and decreased low frequency power.
Furthermore, this study used the fundamental frequency and intensity to quantify the emotion regulatory behavior of pain cry. While a neonate was injecting, the fundamental frequency was higher and more variant than that of after regulation. The intensity was also larger before regulation.
