Summary: | 碩士 === 大同大學 === 工業設計學系(所) === 94 === Taiwan, by UN definition, has long become an aging society in which elderly people must have the ability to handle life-related products in order to take care of their basic needs in life. It is therefore fairly important to study product interfaces that are appropriate for these senior citizens. Outcomes of many researches show elderly people are spending far more time on TV than other age groups. They have become highly dependent on TV. As Taiwan is going through the stage of comprehensive digitalization of its TV products, digital TVs(DTV, Digital Television) have become the trend of the future. Due to the fact that the services of DTVs are far beyond the scope of ordinary people’s viewing routine, an operational interface that meets the buyer’s requirement will be one of the important factors that determine which DTV will be brought to the checkout line.
In light of this observation, this study through questionnaire surveys collects information concerning senior’s lifestyles, as well as their requirements of the interactive functions and services of a DTV. Through the cluster analysis distinguishes different lifestyle types of the elderly group, names each lifestyle type in accordance with its characteristics and identifies functional needs of different groups. Next based on current DTV interfaces and outcomes of the questionnaire survey, the function interface is designed. The operational process recording program is then written via the ASP technique(Active Server Page 3.0) to keep track of the time test subjects stay on each page and the error ratio instantaneously. Through statistical analysis of the result it proves that the function interface designed for a particular lifestyle is indeed suitable for the group.
The outcome indicates elderly people can be divided into two groups: the traditional home-lover type and the active vigor-filled type. The two differ in ranking of the functions they need from the DTV interactive function menu. Both are in high demand of pay-per-view movies and instant weather reports. They are in low demand of online interactive services. Their need for other functions differs in every area. From the mean time average of the experiment we can tell elderly people’s need for custom-made function menus is intense.
