Summary: | 碩士 === 大同大學 === 工業設計學系(所) === 95 === In the information era, the use of the computer has become extensive than ever. Input devices used by the general public are QWERTY keyboard and mouse. The fact that these 2 devices are separated results in ergonomic, operational and portability issues. It has been proven locally and internationally that the chord keyboard can effectively solve ergonomic issues while its input efficiency is not inferior to that of the QWERTY keyboard. None, however, has incorporated the design of the mouse.
The ergonomic chord keyboard-mouse of this study integrates the strength of the chord keyboard and mouse. Ergonomic test, performance evaluation and learning curve measurement indicate that, in terms of input efficiency, it takes 126.4-358.5 minutes to attain the English input efficiency of the standard keyboard. Regard click test, the ergonomic chord keyboard-mouse has been able to attain 81.7% of the efficiency of ordinary optical mousse sold in the market. In the area of mouse editing experiment, through performance evaluation and learning curve experiment it has surpassed ordinary optical mouse sold in the market. Dynamic anthropometry reveals: Ulnar deviation angle of the left hand is 17.35°, dorsal flexion angle of the left hand is 4.9°, ulnar deviation angle of the right hand is 12.4°, and dorsal flexion angle of the right hand is 1.75° – all below the 20° of the standard keyboard.
Following a series of practices and experiments, it has been demonstrated that the ergonomics chord keyboard-mouse can attain the efficiency of familiar input devices, or even higher efficiency. Wrist flexion and deviation can be alleviated; the use space and flexibility can be enhanced. Findings of this study can serve as keyboard/mouse design references to help designers create more healthful and suitable keyboard, mouse and chord keyboard-mouse.
