Description
Summary:碩士 === 臺北市立教育大學 === 環境教育研究所 === 94 === More and more corporations set up corporate foundations to include philanthropy as part of their corporate social and environmental responsibility pledges. How could those in environmental education make the most of these resources brought by this trend? This study wishes to explore the role and possible impacts that corporate foundations have and can exert in the environmental education field. This case study researches Delta Electronics Foundation, a foundation affiliated with Delta Electronics Inc., in Taiwan, to get a better understanding of the pros and cons of pushing the environmental education agenda through corporate foundations. The study has the following findings: 1. Corporate foundations can benefit from the close affiliation with its parent corporation, especially on obtaining more resources and support although sometimes disagreement between the two entities (one is for profit and one is not) does exist and needs to be dealt with. 2. Corporate foundations can be valuable assets for corporations to demonstrate their commitment to social and environmental responsibility to the public. Furthermore, by supporting environmental education through these foundations, these companies can strengthen their corporate images. 3. Corporate foundations and environmental nonprofit organizations can form strategic alliance partnerships to transform the existing environmental education field. And, by cooperating with each other over a long term, they can benefit and learn from each other. This research is a case study of how a single corporate foundation sponsors or carries out an environmental education agenda. To have a comprehensive model on promoting environmental education through corporate environmental responsibility and foundations, further researches with perspectives from corporate and other environmental nonprofit are needed.
