Summary:碩士 === 臺北市立教育大學 === 視覺藝術研究所 === 94 === We enter this world alone and so also will return. As many lonely moments we have experienced in our lifetime, the same many instances we have conversed with ourselves. Only during these times do we face who we truly are, and only then do we truly exist. The thoughts encountered throughout this research and the paintings used for this research have led me to a deeper understanding of the ultimate reality of metaphysical solitude and have led me to enter the freedom and contentedness of the spirit, while at the same time realizing my own existence and being self aware. The author will explore in depth the essence of solitude, metaphysical will, various representations of the world, and furthermore, the value and meaning of my own existence. Using specific aspects of solitude, the author examines the relationship between the unorthodox space exhibited in the paintings of Chirico, a metaphysical painter, and the author’s own creations. Also, the author will use the philosophies of life preached by Schopenhauer and Nietzsche, and Heidegger’s exposition on existence, to probe deeper into the consciousness of the author's artistic creations in order to echo the author’s form and content of his works. The "truth of existence" is much too abstract and far beyond the scope of this researcher; therefore, the author will use architecture to describe and interpret the experience of solitude. To intimately experience and face solitude for oneself is to experience the reality of existence. Architecture is inorganic and appears as merely an image to the people. Under our gaze, the subject morphs into an undeniably lonely and independent form of existence. We move towards the building, and looking within ourselves and looking from our personal point of view, the building becomes the object of our consciousness. Facing its existence and our own, we realize the reality of our existence all the more. During this process of interpreting and understanding, I realize that the creator must first speak to himself amidst solitude, searching the hidden depths of his own heart, before being able to interact with others and resonate with them. Ultimately, by interaction with others, breaking the silence of solitude and moving towards a better and a new life.
