碩士 === 臺北市立教育大學 === 教育心理與輔導研究所 === 94 === The Adjustment Process between Mother-in-Law and Daughter-in-Law by the Viewpoint of the Triangles Relationship Lin，Shu-Jei Abstract The purpose of this study was to investigate the adjustment process between mother-in-law and daughter-in-law by the viewpoint of the triangles relationship. This study investigates the role of the daughter-in-law and analyze the interaction by qualitative method. Three daughters-in-law who had got married for 4-13 years and had lived with their mothers-in-law at least for 3 years were interviewed about their adjustment process between them and their mother-in-law and their expectation in the role of their husbands between them and their mother-in-law. The interviews were recorded, transcribed and then analyzed . The results found the adjustment process between mother-in-law and daughter-in-law by the viewpoint of the triangles relationship were： 1.Time, space and the attitude to imitate relatives are the lubrication to the adjustment process between mother-in-law and daughter-in-law . 2.Hold your hands till we two being old. Husband is the main role for the adjustment process between mother-in-law and daughter-in-law . 3.The degree of self differentiation from original family affects the adjustment of marriage . Results of this study showed that the daughter-in-law are willing to adjust themselves in the new relationship in marriage. We, as teachers or family educators, should provide proper strategies, curricula or programs to help them and their families. By so doing, we could empower their family’s dynamics and enrich the efficiency of family education as well. At the end of this thesis, some implications and suggestions were offered.
