Under the influence of the globalization, cross-country collaborative design model has become a new trend. Because of the trend, a design communication which focuses on computer-mediation has been brought forth with its advantages of saving cost and time. The use of the computer-mediated communication and its model are therefore the two influential factors. This study is aimed at exploring (1) the categories of the drawing patterns of applying pen-input screen on long-distance design communication and its effects, (2) the differences/discrepancies of the drawing patterns of applying pen-input screen on long-distance design communication, (3) the patterns of long-distance communication design model of applying pen-input screen and computer-mediation. The procedure of this study is to adopt expert interview method to discuss the role and the functions of freehand drawings, the advantages and disadvantages of applying pen-input screen on design communication expression, and to assure the items of drawing behavior of design communication. Later, the researcher conduct an experiment by mean of an experimental research method. The data collected was analyzed through sample descriptive, observation method and chi-square. The results of the study are as followed: 1. Creation, revision, annotation, indication and functional operation of software are five major drawing behaviors of applying pen-input screen on design communication 2. In terms of design communication, the frequency of drawing behaviors of senior designers is significantly higher than those of the junior designers and annotation has most significant differences between the two. 3.
