Excessive lead time, improper control of transportation resource and inaccessibility of tracking information may lead to ineffective and unreliable delivery. The seemly integration of supply chain members such as suppliers, manufacturers and global third party logistics service providers (global 3PLs) can increase the information visibility and collaboration. With supply chain collaboration, the transportation lead time can be significantly shorten whereas the transportation resource utilization can be highly improved. Recently, Collaborative Transportation Management (CTM) has been proposed by CTM Sub-Committee, Logistics Committee of the Voluntary Inter-industry Commerce Standards (VICS), which provides the process of information sharing for the carrier and trading partners in supply chain. CTM was reported that it can reduce the ineffective transportation components and improve the delivery performance. However, information sharing between carriers and trading partners in supply chain has to integrate the heterogeneous information systems. Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) and Web Services (WS) possess the cross-platform characteristic that can be applied to develop a SOA based CTM platform for the carrier and trading partners in supply chain. In this paper, a WS-CTM framework is developed to collaboratively manage transportation and distribution for Thin Film Transistor Liquid Crystal Display (TFT-LCD) industry in Taiwan. The proposed WS-CTM can assist the panel manufacturers, system manufacturers and global 3PLs to reduce the uncertainty in distribution, and improve the supply chain performance. 陳穆臻 2006 學位論文 ; thesis 201 zh-TW
