The main purpose of this research is to discuss the relationship between personal attributes and their preference of tourists visited DongYuanShan National Forest Recreation Area, and based on the results to bring up the management strategies.First, through an effort of in-depth interview to discuss tourists’ attributes and their experience of using installations of interpretation, and then to build up “the modes of experienced forest recreation resource“, and to generalize some factors that balk tourists to use installations of interpretation.Second, according to the forest resource in DongYuanShan National Forest Recreation Area, bring up 6 different types of itinerary examples and interview tourists visited this area during 2006.3.12. to 2006.3.21. by structure questionnaire to investigate their preference of interpretation facilities and itinerary. And we got 503 valid questionnaires feedback.According to the survey, there are several characteristics to reveal. First of all, the different attribute of tourists could contribute to the diversity of recreation motivation. The significant difference of recreation motivation would happen between the weekday and the weekend. Second, the recreation type is associated with the motivation of tourists strongly. It means the difference motivation will lead to the variable characters of recreation types. Additionally, the motivation of tourists would influence the preference of the guided tour, guided facilities and the wills of re-visiting. For examples, the tourist prefer mostly to revisit the forth and sixth itineraries. As well as the visitors would like to have the tour guide in the first and sixth routs, instead of the third one .Moreover, the visitor prefer the volunteers guide more than other guiding facilities.
Finally, according to the results of this research to provide the managing strategies as below: 1. To take place the nature experiencing activities regularly at the DIY rooms on second floor of tourist center for attracting younger tourists. 2. Cooperate with schools in the neighborhood and build up field works for students to popularize environmental education. 3. Improve the interpretation facilities of Trace fossil area and enhance the contents of diversification interpretation to provide tourists some special experience from this unique forest resource. 4. Change the arrangement and interpretation style of forestry logging facilities on the Forestry Trail route, and make tourists to understand some forestry history experience and professional knowledge through operating facilities by themselves.
