Description
Summary:碩士 === 東海大學 === 建築學系 === 94 === Stages of the novel in 50’s have existed among real urban spaces where I have lived in Tainan. The combination of the present and the past is a different way to know a city, and this helps me find another imagination about Tainan city by the novel. The novel that I make reference is” The Taiwanese man: Chien A Tao” which wrote by Ye Shi Tao. This novel is an autobiography, and by telling a life story about Chien A Tao who actually is Mr. Ye himself from attended protesting movement when he was young, be jailed, and then be released from prison, be unemployed but still revived in his middle age, he clearly described the history from the prosperity to the decline of Chi-Kan, the early-developed region in Tainan city. Alleyway, the story mostly happened in the novel, is the most important living space in Chi-Kan of Tainan, and it formed from ancient streets by enforcing urban planning during the Japanese-occupied period in Taiwan. Alleyway connected traditional temple gateway squares in the block-inner, ancient houses and ancient city walls. Also, alleyway is the boundary of union-border space of temples. The living in alleyway in Ye Shi Tao’s youthhood contributed to his writing, therefore, find new spatial atmosphere and new programs in new space from ruinous alleyway is the main concept in my design. New atmosphere in the space: Ye Shi Tao got his writing ideas from Tainan old alleyway. Therefore, scale in new space on the site is copied from old alleyway, and the new space will not only be designed for living but also provided a forum with new information and new arguments for residents and visitor. And the relationship between the visitors who experience the new space is like the special memory that Ye Shi Tao lived in old alleyways. New programs in the space: By writing the critical literary, Ye Shi Tao build the foundation of 「Taiwan Literature」.From his writing he also made sure of his values and formed his attitude toward writing. I choose the program “Forum” to be a response to Ye Shi Tao’s contribution in critical literature. 「Forum」is composed by stage、service space back of stage、rehearsal room、auditorium、space of service and archives, and the combinations of forum mainly to let artistic creations、shows、observation and discussion displayed at the same time. New experiences in the spaces are multiple、interactive、critical and can be reinterpretation by anybody. These new cultures in alleyways will change Chi-Kan.
