The development of Preservice Teachers’ Multicultural Literacy Scale The Preservice Teachers’ Multicultural Literacy Scale is based on the analysis of literature. There are three subscales in Preservice Teachers’ Multicultural Literacy Scale, including Multicultural Awareness, Multicultural Knowledge, and Multicultural Skills. The formal scale consists of 60 items. By the measurement of reliability and validity, the reliability of the scale is .94. Besides, the scale is supported by construct validity and content validity. Therefore, the Preservice Teachers’ Multicultural Literacy Scale has good reliability and validity.. Ⅱ. The application of Preservice Teachers’ Multicultural Literacy Scale 1. All preservice teachers’ average score in Preservice Teachers’ Multicultural Literacy Scale is 2.98. 2. The preservice female teachers’ total score and the score of subscale” Multicultural Awareness” in Preservice Teachers’ Multicultural Literacy Scale are significantly higher than the preservice male teachers’. 3. Teachers’ different knowledge background will affect their preservice teachers’ multicultural literacy. The preservice teachers of the department of education get higher scores in Preservice Teachers’ Multicultural Literacy Scale than that of science department. 4. The preservice elementary teachers’ score Preservice Teachers’ Multicultural Literacy Scale is higher than the preservice high school teachers’. 5. The preservice teachers taken the relative multicultural courses have higher multicultural literacy. 6. The preservice teachers’ multicultural literacy is relative to their different cultural experiences. Teachers having lived in different cultural regions, having the experience of travel, reading multicultural readings regularly, and attending the activities of minor group have higher multicultural literacy. 7. The preservice teachers’ multicultural literacy is relative to their experience of interpersonal interaction.
