To be able to change in the intensively competitive environment, a department store must unceasingly learn, strive for change, increase productivity, and promote competitive advantages. The quality of human resources is the key factor for reaching its goals and to grow continuously, and one of the best ways to promote its human resources is training. The purpose of the present study was to investigate the relationships among job characteristics, learning intent, and learning satisfaction of the employees in S Department Store. The data was gathered by questionnaires and in-depth interviews. Two hundred and thirty questionnaires were distributed to the employees, and 197 responses returned with a valid return rate of 80.87%. 6 employees were interviewed. The findings of the study indicated: 1) seniority, education background, age, and department are factors affecting respondents’ perceptions toward job characteristics, and job autonomy is the most unsatisfied factor among the dimensions of job characteristics; 2) position is one of the factors affecting learning intents; 3) job characteristics significantly affect learning intents and learning satisfactions; and 4) learning intents also significantly affect learning satisfactions. The results of the interviews supported the notion that employees desired to have their job autonomy increased. In respect of learning intent, most interviewees believe that incentives and self-development are factors affecting their learning intents. As to learning satisfaction, most interviewees were somewhat satisfied with their learning. CHU HUI CHIN 朱惠琴 2006 學位論文 ; thesis 135 zh-TW
