To explore the effect of parents’ marital stability on their children’s marital stability, questionnaire survey research is used. There are 316 married persons from Taipei City, Taipei County and Keelung City are included in this research. The data is analyzed by using path analysis method. Findings suggest that parents’ marital stability dose not transmit to next generation directly, but in an indirect way. Two indirect paths are found. The first indirect path is that patents’ marital stability will affect offspring’s marital stability through the latters’ marital commitment. A more complicate indirect effect is found in a way that parents’ marital stability affect offspring’s marital stability first through children’s commitment to their own marriage, then via their communicational behavior in marriage, and finally children’s marital stability.
