The research utilized the qualitative approach, took the purposeful sampling. The target samples met the following criteria: social work background, work in the military hospital over three years, and had the experience of treating the military patients.
The conclusions of this research as follows:
(1)Military patients’ problems included both basic problems and special problems. Basic problems were the problems that both military patients and the civilian patients would experience. Special problems were the problems that affect by the troops environment and pressures.
(2)The procedure social workers applied resources to treat military patients was dynamic, included assessing resources, planning of applying resources, connecting and using resources, and evaluating the outcomes.
(3)For military patients, the first priority resource was troops resource, the family resource was the second choice. Family and friends were the major resources that civilian patients used. This priority difference caused by identity.
(4)Social resource integration of the military patients directed to the following: First, assigning officer social worker to work in military hospital; Second, developing and maintaining resources; Third, strengthening the connecting and cooperation among related organizations; Forth, the Ministry of National Defense should play the leading role.
The suggestions of this research included policy regulation, clinical practice and resource using:
(1)Policy regulation suggestions included: Long lasting and concrete policy plan, and constant and continued of budgeting.
(2)Clinical practice suggestions included: procedure and outcome evaluation, system of care service, and case management.
(3)Resource using suggestions included: developing resources, training for officer social workers, hospital fund building, collecting civil resources and integrating resources.
