| Summary: | 碩士 === 東吳大學 === 音樂學系 === 94 === The musical development of 20th century had great varieties. There were so many musical styles coexisted in the multicultural society. In this thesis, we study “Divertissement pour basson et quintette à cordes (1942)” which is one of the work of Jean Françaix (1912-1997).
It’s the masterpiece of neoclassicism, which prevailed between 1918 and 1945.
There are three major sections in this thesis. The first section introduces the colorful biography of Jean Françaix. Furthermore, we study the unique musical styles and creative characteristics of his works. Then we focus on studying the creation background of the work, Divertissement pour basson et quintette à cordes.
In the second section, we analyze the musical structure and composition methods of this work. We mainly concentrate our attention on studying and comparing “the structures of the tunes”, “harmony”, “melody”, and “the modes of meter and rhythm”. The final section discusses how to combine the studies of the previous two sections in order to develop a better explaination.
