Through interviewing them and analyzing the data by qualitative research we try to understand their role expectation, role stress and adjustment process. The major findings of research is divided into three sections: role expectation, role stress and adjustment process. Role expectation: The role expectation of social workers comes from different role transmitter. While the service is proceeding, the role expectation is adjusted continuously. The convictions of social workers, the organization culture and the statute policy will also have influence on that of social workers. Role stress: In this section, we discuss the topic by three concepts: role ambiguity, role conflict, and role overload. We find that social workers experience the three concepts more deeply after the service is starting and the stress is getting greatly at the same time, and then the stress is reflected by many kinds of physical and mental symptoms. The drop between role expectation and role practice, the condition of target obscuring and strategy lacking, unclear position and limitation of professional self-determination, and the lack of theory and professional reflection are the reasons to urge the role stress of social workers to be increased. Adjustment process: Not every social worker experiences stress adjustment process. Part of social workers begin being conscious of the existence of role stress so that there are some pressure symptoms appearing on their body and mind. Part of them have entered adjustment process, the main ways are unleashing personal emotion, adjusting conviction and working attitude, or obtaining resource form inside and outside the organization, which are helpful for them to release the stress. While under the adjustment process or afterward, some social workers determine to lower the service target, some of them use other methods such as reflection to re-fix themselves different positions. 碩士 === 東吳大學 === 社會工作學系 === 94 === This study is aimed at the social workers of the Youth Service Center in Taipei City. Through interviewing them and analyzing the data by qualitative research we try to understand their role expectation, role stress and adjustment process.
The major findings of research is divided into three sections: role expectation, role stress and adjustment process.
Role expectation:
The role expectation of social workers comes from different role transmitter. While the service is proceeding, the role expectation is adjusted continuously. The convictions of social workers, the organization culture and the statute policy will also have influence on that of social workers.
Role stress:
In this section, we discuss the topic by three concepts: role ambiguity, role conflict, and role overload.
Adjustment process:
Not every social worker experiences stress adjustment process. Part of social workers
begin being conscious of the existence of role stress so that there are some pressure symptoms appearing on their body and mind.
