This study presents a continuation of the research on thermophysical properties for mixtures of the oxygenated blends as octane enhancers in gasoline hydrocarbons. The oxygenated blends considered are isopropanol + 1,3-dioxolane and isopropanol + tetrahydrofuran, and the gasoline hydrocarbon is 2,2,4-trimethylpentane (isooctane). We measured density, viscosity, and refractive index for the two ternary systems of isopropanol + 1,3-dioxolane + 2,2,4-trimethylpentane and isopropano + tetrahydrofuran + 2,2,4-trimethylpentane at 298.15 K and their constituent binaries at 288.15 K, 298.15 K, and 308.15 K and at atmospheric pressure over the whole composition range. Densities were determined using a vibrating-tube densimeter; Viscosities were measured with an automatic “rolling-ball” viscometer. Refractive indexes were measured with an automatic Abbe refractometer. Excess molar volumes VE, deviations in viscosity , and deviation in refractive indexes nD for the mixtures were obtained from the experimental data. The binary data were correlated with liquid composition using the Redlich-Kister equation. The kinematic viscosities of binary date were correlated using McAllister Three-Body and Four-Body-Interaction model. For the ternary data, several polynomial equations have been tested to minimize the set of parameters for adequate correlation. The Jasinski and Malanowski equation, Cibulka equation, Sing equation, Pintos equation, Calvo equation, and other extended equations were individually used to correlate the ternary data. These data are useful for the refining industry and can be a guide to an alternative octane-enhancing additive for an unleaded gasoline. Chein-Hsiun Tu 杜建勳 2006/07/ 學位論文 ; thesis 284 zh-TW
