Summary: | 碩士 === 靜宜大學 === 西班牙語文學系研究所 === 94 === Fernando Lalana, a contemporary Spanish writer, has been working on poems, prose, novels, dramas, etc., winning many prizes for his works. A series of his detective novels Marijuli & Gil, investigaciones were popular with readers and since then the novels have become best sellers. This series consisted of a total of nine books.
However, detective novels in Taiwan’s review literature are still regarded as “low” or “popular literature.” Even with wide-spread readership, little attention has been paid by the literature critics in Taiwan. Consequently, not many reviews on this well-known protagonist can be found. This is also due to lacking of local researchers and translators in this field.
Therefore, this essay is intended to build up a whole and concise review structure through re-organizing and analyzing as many detective novels as can be found among local and foreign writers and also from my own perspective. With the structure, we hope to interpret the ways of Lalana’s plot arrangement on the myth, of the layouts of his stories on time, and the ways he described the heroine-like maid, the main protagonist of this novel. We also want to show how Lalana deeply and concisely presents an undeniable appeal to his readers and successfully triggered zeal in reading detective novels among children at the age of 8~12. Furthermore, we hope to establish a systematic method of appreciating detective novels for children and youth and from which either enthusiastic or indifferent readers of detective novels can acquire further understanding about this literary style. Meanwhile, our children and youth readers can also benefit from it and be guided to appreciate detective novels in the future.
In addition to testifying to the intrigue of this series of detective novels Marijuli & Gil, investigaciones done by Spanish writer Lalana , the essay is meant to usher in the detective novels and attract more to the value and influence of detective novels.
