Description
Summary:碩士 === 靜宜大學 === 中國文學研究所 === 94 === The author discusses Chivalrous novels and Kaon novels in this thesis. Chivalrous novels and Koan novels originally were two different kinds of novels on the developing history of novels. In the middle period of Ching Dynasty, these two novels gradually amalgamated and became so-called “Chivalrous Koan Novel”. In her thesis, the author focuses on two novels named, “Shi-Gong Koan Novel” and “Shan Xia Wu Yi” respectively. Chivalrous Koan novels, such as “Xiao Wu Yi”, “Xiao Wu Yi II”, and “Peng-Gong Koan Novel”, were discussed in this thesis as well. Chivalrous Koan Novels had been abandoned for centuries since novels written to extol emperors were the trend in Ching Dynasty. However, the author asserts more emphasizes should be put on chivalrous sprits. Chivalrous Koan Novels of Ching Dynasty were written by regular citizens instead of well-known scholars. Therefore, it is important to investigate these Chivalrous Koan Novels from a point of view of a rural person. This way, the essence of the Chivalrous Koan Novels would be revealed from a better standpoint. The purpose of this study is to reclaim the importance of Chivalrous Koan novels. Revealing the thoughts and conversations of chivalrous swordsmen, rather than government officials, is another purpose of this study.
