With the service of making friends of entry websites, many people have already set up another interpersonal field land in virtual world. But what kind of the people will use the service to make friends?
This research is directed against the users of Yahoo! friend-making services as research target. Related variables are the purpose of internet use, attachment style and the usage of friend-making function. The researcher use descriptive statistics, Chi-Square test, independent-samples T test, One-Way analysis of variance, Pearson’s production-moment correlation, Point-Biserial correlation, Partial correlation and stepwise multiple regression to analysis 547 Yahoo! friend-making users.
Results revealed that the difference of proportion of four kinds of attachment style is not obvious in Yahoo! friend-making users. Most of the male belong to Dismissing Style which has confident but distrust others. Most of the female belong to Fearful Style which has no confident and distrust others. Furthermore, there is obvious difference on attachment style in different generations. Female relatively pay more attention to the systematic data in the personal page than male. The VIP users and the user with photo have more positive usage of function.
The user of Fearful Style will not escape being close to others in the internet, but will comparatively protect own private matters in usage. Lacking confidence cause to care own systematic data in the personal page. Attempt to get identification in this respect.
The user of Secure Style is glad to show oneself equally in virtual and reality. They can freely maintain or expand the interpersonal relationships among the virtual world.
The user of Dismissing Style relatively pay less attention to the systematic data in personal page, will not escape being close to others and less anonymous behavior in using.
The user of Preoccupied Style relatively emphasizes the systematic data in personal page. It shows that the user will seek consolation in the virtual worlds and attempt to get identification in this respect.
