碩士 === 中國文化大學 === 音樂研究所 === 94 === A Study of Mussorgsky`s “Pictures at an Exhibition” Abstract “Pictures at an Exhibition”is one of the most important piano works of Mussorgsky. It is also the first important signature in Russia during the 19th century. And one of the most important piano works at all time. An in depth observation of the culture and the ecademia of the adveance of music of that century helps understand the milieu of Mussorgsky. Hence, the process of writing“Pictures at an Exhibition” and the relationship between the artist and the comporser was discussed. Each opuscule of“Pictures at an Exhibition”was analysed in an in-depth manner and later the correlation of the language, the construction of the title of each opuscule and the particular music languge beneath each opuscule“Pictures at an Exhibition”was compared. Through the virtue of andlysis and comparative of the six different performers from records availables, I have perceive the command of emotion for mourning for a friend. Besides, I have also understood the techniques in performing different opuscule which represent a different emotion. These andlysis enhanced my knowledge in managing emotion during performing. Finally, I have suggested a range of techniques to conquer the difficulty in performing“Pictures at an Exhibition”to better the performance of the piece mentioned above.
