The study integrates a luminance meter, a ProMetric, a control module, and a mechanism module into one measurement system for the solving problem concerning the constant ratio, luminance uniformity, and color saturation of LCD panels. A CCD is employed to automatic positioning. The luminance meter is applied to measure the luminance and CIE chromaticity. The ProMetric is a computer controlled CCD-based imaging photometer and colorimeter capable of capturing images for light and color characteristics. The measurement results show that the measurement system has an excellent repeatable accuracy. The automatic optical inspection system is thus able to keep up with the LCD production process, can inspect every one, and reject the defective ones.
