Particularly, this method is applied to develop the tiny chip antennas for applications in GPS (1.575MHz) and GSM (900/1800MHz) bands. To design the chip antennas, three steps are followed: (1) establishing the structures of the tiny chip antennas by using electromagnetic numerical simulation software packages, and then performing simulations, (2) analyzing the control parameters of the antennas, (3) measuring the antennas to compare with the simulations for verifying the designs. As for the manufacture part, an insert molding technology is applied. First, the radiating structures of the antenna are fabricated on a substrate. Secondly, a composite dielectric material is attached with the substrate by applying the insert molding technology. Finally, tiny chip antennas are obtained by using a cutting machine to segment the molded substrate with a diamond knife. In additions, the tiny chip antennas are used as the elements of the antenna array. Linear and square array antennas are designed for applications in the 2.4GHz ISM band.
