It also is an essential work and task to construct a rapid and effective power defence system at the daily millions of ridership of TRTC. Basically, the characters of DC power supply system is not similar to that of AC power supply system in the point of view of protection.When the train starting or accelerating in heavy load condition, the load current may be higher than the short circuit current at remote site.Therefore, the protection and coordination principles for traditional AC power supply system is not the same with DC power supply system. First of all, this thesis uses PSCAD V3.0.8 to setup an equivalent MRT’s DC power supply system module to perform short circuit analysis. Modification of equivalent module is necessary if simulation results are different from the field test data. Furthermore, the discrepancy between remote faulted current and heavy load current are examined in detail. Finally, an effectively programming notion for protection device is proposed including parameter setting and braking stradgy of relay to comply with protection requirement in MRT DC power supply system.
