Summary:碩士 === 國立臺灣科技大學 === 工業管理系 === 94 === Abstract Internet began to take shape late in the 20th century and matured in early 21st century. Nowadays it has become a necessary tool for all trades and businesses. Spurred by economy of scale and bandwagon effects, the internet has entered all walks of life. Particularly with the emergence of broadband network and e-commerce, Chunghwa TelecommunicationCorporation (CHT) has devoted sizable human and material resources in ADSL network in response to the demand for broadband network, and put in place state-of-the-art broadband exchange and transmission facilities to serve its customers. CHT places special emphasis on operation and maintenance. Its operation and maintenance system demands a level of effectiveness that gives prompt response to minimize the occurrence of service interruptions. Use of high quality ADSL facilities by the customers increases their reliance on CHT. Prompt and rapid maintenance is the real meaning of rendering customer service and raising the degree of customer satisfaction. This study focuses on the ADSL operation and maintenance in CHT.The author also gathers related articles, periodicals and theses, and conducts in-depth observations and interviews on CHT’s operation and maintenance work procedures, as well as examines and evaluates CHT current design methods for such procedures. It also aims at bringing to light problems and proposing improvements. The final product of this study is a “Modified Operation and Maintenance System for ADSL” and the related benefit analysis.
