Accordingly, an auto-control system is planned in this study to manage the runoff pollution in a real-time control in an urban drainage system. To understand the first flush phenomenom and to simulate the controlling efficiency, an auto-control system has been constructed. The storm water management model was employed to simulate runoff quality and hydrography for Liuguan in Taipei. The input conditions include different rainfall frequency (2, 5, 10, 25 and 50 years), rainfall duration (60, 90 and 120 minutes) and antecedent dry weather period (7 and 14 days), which were found to be the most important parameters influencing the first flush load of suspended solids. Moreover, the mass balance equation is used to calculate the water quality of the receiving water bodies.
