Summary: | 碩士 === 國立臺灣大學 === 機械工程學研究所 === 94 === By sticking onto the surface, Fiber Bragg gratings (FBGs) measure the straining property of substrate. The research is to apply FBGs to the injection molding by imbedding it right into the injection process. By using this method, we can increase the range and the fatigue life of FBGs. This research investigates the static and dynamics properties of the sensing system in hope that such system can be applied to the practical field of monitoring and damage prevention of the critical plastic components in national defense, medical, and aerospace.
Beginning from injection molding, some challenges faced in the experiments, like bubbles arisen from the imbedding of FBGs, were overcame until the result of imbedding process was good enough. Then, the tensile strength and fatigue life of specimens with FBGs imbedded and without were compared. Finally, we examined the capability of FBG strain sensing system in both static and dynamic condition, monitored the stiffness-N curve of specimen, and discussed the advantage and disadvantages of other strain sensing system.
