There are many literatures aimed on investigating the relationship in muscular activity between the usage of the traditional and ergonomic computer mouse but rarely reported the effect on muscular activity by using similar ergonomic mouse. This study was aim at the investigation on the relationship between forearm muscular activity and ergonomic mice, which have same mouse shape but only different slanted surface. In this research twelve subjects were participated and performed the same text-editing task with different slanted mice. The muscle activity of the Right extensor carpi ulnaris (ECU), right extensor digitorum communis (ED), right pronation teres (PT) and right upper trapezius (Trap) were recorded by the surface electromyography and compared by the non-parametric statistic test. The result in this study had revealed that under repetitive, long duration and low strength text editing task, the EMG levels were affect by the shape of computer mouse. A lower EMG level was found in terms of ECU and PT muscles by using the 25-degree slanted mouse. However, the advantage of slanted surface was accompanied with more wrist extension cause by the height of slanted feature and result in higher muscle load in terms of the ED muscle. Work with more neutral hand position give a decreased in muscle activity and might reduce the occurrence of occupational upper-limb disorder. 陳漢明 2006 學位論文 ; thesis 39 en_US
