Abstract
This study discusses the work environment and performance of the alternative servicemen in education. The in air goal is to find a way to help the servicemen develop their specialties and to solve teacher shortages in remote areas under the downsizing policy of the government.
The subjects of this study are alternative servicemen in education, staff and superintendents in Taitung county schools.
Using a questionnaire for the supervisors and alternative servicemen, this study will discuss how alternative servicemen have been utilized. This study will also discuss the management problems, the effectiveness, and different viewpoints on alternative service. It will also look at the execution of the alternative servicemen’s duty, their job satisfaction , the influence on their career plans, and the relationship between the alternative servicemen and school policy.
The result of this study shows that the manpower utilization of alternative servicemen and management affect each other. Without effective utilization of manpower, the expectation for more manpower will result in a larger burden on management. After exploring the present condition of the alternative servicemen’s manpower utilization and management, looked at management problems and have tried to give suggestions on the policy and practices. My hope is to stimulate thinking about the strategies of manpower utilization and management when teaching staff wants to promote school education with the help of the alternative servicemen.
