The series novels have a great hit in the book market, so they turn out to be adapted into the comic books and TV drama, having an influence on more audience. This phenomenon also accords with the author’s important idea that the writer has to portray the “wounds” of the society we live in. Although the writer is not capable of curing the “wounds” in real society, he at least achieves his responsibility to make the “wounds” appear in front of the public. This paper, at first, tries to search the subculture tone of the youth from examining the story setting and the images of the adolescents appearing in the texts. Then with the reference of the characteristics of the detective novels, the paper presents how a plain juvenile detective who takes basic respect toward each individual as premise enforces the justice to dig out the glorious humanity hidden behind the surface of the cruel world. Furthermore, the paper discusses how these adolescents rejected by the mainstream society look for their own temporary identities in the brutal real world. Finally, the paper examines the correspondences between the bildungsroman and the text which is thought of as popular literature, concluding that the children should have more freedom and power to choose their reading materials, constructing their own reading domains.
