Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立臺北教育大學 === 兒童英語教育學系碩士班 === 95 === Abstract The purpose of this quasi-experiment study was to investigate the effects of language experience approach on language learning attitude in Taiwanese elementary school. The sample population was selected from two classes of the 5th graders in a rural town in Taoyuan. There were a total of 66 students participating in the study. The experimental group was taught with the language experience approach for twice a week while the control group was doing the learning activities such as role play, games, songs and chants, etc. Data collected for analysis includes a pretest, a post-test, and questionnaires. The statistical tools of the independent samples t-test and paired samples t-test were used to determine whether there were significant inter- and intra-group differences. The results of the study showed that the experimental group did not outperform the control group significantly, while the experimental group did show positives effects on their language learning attitude, especially on the aspect of learning behavior. The major finding of this study was that students in the experimental group were interested in reading, which suggested that English teachers could apply the language experience based activities into their teaching. Finally, suggestions for future research were recommended.
