It is found that the mean AOD values in Beijing and Xiang-He are similar and much higher than the other locations. This may result from the reality that the two locations neighboring and both of tem are close to the sand source. From the observation of the seasonal AOD average values in the Northeastern Asia, we can find that summer is the worst season influenced by the suspended particle in the air, while spring is the second worst season. As for Taiwan, it is surrounded by seas and far from sand source, so the highest AOD happens in spring, quite different from the results shown in other location. Besides, in 2003 the AOD value in Beijing, which is closest to the sand source, shows the highest, even higher than those in 2002 and 2004 during the study period. This study also indicates that the maximum value of each high AOD event in the Northeastern Asia happens in spring. From the satellite observation of the aerosol distribution and the HYSPLIT (HYbrid Single-Particle Lagrangian Integrated Trajectory) model results, we can conclude that the highest AOD in winter may result from the transport of the sand storm by the high pressure circulation, but the high AOD in summer is different. It mainly results from the anthropogenic pollution in China. Shih-Jen Huang 黃世任 2006 學位論文 ; thesis 128 zh-TW
