Summary: | 碩士 === 國立臺灣師範大學 === 教育學系在職進修碩士班 === 94 === The purpose of this study was to investigate views of teachers about the Supervisory Group in assisting the teaching of social studies learning in the compulsory education in Taoyuan County.
The methodology employed was mainly of quantitative analysis assisted with qualitative analysis. Statistical methods adopted included percentages, t-tests and ANOVA analysis. The subjects responding to the questionnaire were 80 teachers. The results of the study covered six aspects:
(1)Organization Structure: supervisory group members should compose of outstanding teachers and the best supervisory formate was strategic regional alliance. Aside from this, a full-job professional system, specialists/ scholars consulting committee and curriculum teacher,and supervisory administrative integration system had to be established.
(2)Main content of in-service training:Subject specialized knowledge, teaching materials and methods for social studies and teaching demonstrations were most urgently needed.
(3)Time of instructional supervision: In the past 3 years, teachers attended 1 to 2 symposiums every school year, and half a day was considered the most appropriate duration of learning.
(4)Supervisory functions: Teachers presented their questions and difficulties in the symposium fairly often, but there was still a high percentage of teachers who never raised any questions (31.6%). It is advisable to design a web page and news letters for better communication. Also, it is important for the teachers to strengthen the curriculum design and exam composition abilities for the 9-Year Curriculum Reform, as well as to promote the critical thinking of teachers.
(5)Difficulties and problems: Teachers believed that the most difficult parts were finding substitute teachers and making up missed lessons.
(6)Future planning and suggestions: The teachers believed that in the future the Supervisory Group should provide the information of related theories and research papers, teaching aids, and AV media for social studies instruction. Also, characteristics of different school districts should be considered in providing supervision.
Based on the above results, Fourteen suggestions for the Board of Education and Taoyuan County instructional advisory group for social studies field were suggested.
