Half a century later,the Netherlanders went to the east for colonies abroad, and selected Anping of Tainan, with Taijiang fleet for foreign trade, and built a city here, which took on the original look of downtown streets. In Mingyong 15(1661), the Netherlanders were driven out of Taiwan by Zheng Chenggong, a Chengtian Fu was built in Chiqian; In Kongxi 23 of Qing Dynasty, Taiwan was governed by the Qing empire, where there set a Taiwan Fu, several periods of development and expansion left a prosperous history and culture with Tainan, as long as more than 200 years (From 1661-1885, Chengtian Fu to Taiwan Fu); Through the 200 years, the development of Tainan come at a low ebb, and was transferred with the developing center in Taiwan district. In Guangxu 13 of Qing Danysty(1887), Taiwan become a province of Qing Empire, which was plotted out into 3 cities of Taipei Fu, Taiwan Fu and Tainan Fu, where Tainan was no longer the only Fu of Taiwan and the new Taiwan Fu come to Taizhong, while Tainan, the location of former Taiwan Fu, changed its name to Tannan Fu, for it was located in the south of Taiwan province, and restarted the new period of development of more than 100 years. The local toponyms in this thesis indicate the research objectives of the place names in Tainan, which was originally the location of Chiqian of the Siraiya before it was developed by the old Chinese people; Later, through the cultural blend of different times of the Netherlander colonists, Ming & Qing Dynasty, the Japanese colonists and Minguo( From establishment till now) make the local toponyms in Tainan a mass variety of styles. Whatever names related to local toponyms such as landform names, names of lakes and rivers, animal names, plant names, names of geopotential topography, names of natural resources, family names, local names related to assarted lands, local names related to recovery, local names related to architecture, local names related to old careers (Including names of streets), local names related to ancestral homes and immigrations, local names related to religion, local names related to traffic construction, fair names, names of special-functional spots, local names related to characters, local names related to legends, local names related to original residents, local names related to the Netherlander government, local names related to Japanese government… etc. all belong to the categories researched on by the thesis. All the local names of small places in the 6 districts of Tainan are the objectives of the thesis; a lot of information on the sources of Taiwan culture is found in the source search for the local toponyms in Tainan; Keeping the old local toponyms, you keep the cultural heritage, which is the cultural assets in deed; Therefore, that local toponyms are fossils of history and culture is so true to Taiwan.
