碩士 === 國立臺南大學 === 音樂教育學系碩士班 === 94 === The Development of Ocarina in Taiwan Student: Hsu-Chien, Pan Advisor: Yuan-Mei, Hsieh Music Teaching Master Program Department of Music Education National University of Tainan ABSTRACT This research aims at probing into the development and promotion of the musical instrument ocarina in Taiwan. Using documental records, interviews, participative observations, along with recording , video recording and personal involvement in the picture and text image, etc., I have come to carry on the discussion in accordance with the following project: the origin and development of ocarina, its structure and sound production , ocarina’s development and evolvement in Taiwan, ocarina’s fingering system, people who improve and promote the instrument, published teaching materials , important incidents, and the characteristics of ocarina teaching in Taiwan. Discoveries are as follows: 1. The making and improvement of ocarina in Taiwan was started by Tsung-Han, Tsai in 1990. The follow-up have caused many craftsmen to join the refinement and popularization of the ocarina. The devotion and working attitude of these researchers and propellants have contributed to the all-pervading popularity of ocarina in Taiwan. 2. The fingering systems of ocarina in Taiwan have six English holes, and 12 Japanese holes, Shih Cheng, Tao Sheng Men in all. Hence, there are four kinds of the fingering system at present. 3. The promotion of ocarina in Taiwan have always been affected by the production and marketing of the instrument. First are the six English holes, later the 12 Japanese holes. Nevertheless, people are still fond of the instrument, though it has its own glottis system. 4. “The learner''s maximization” is the unanimous idea between the folks and the government in Taiwan. And Ching-Rung, Kuo has important influence on the promotion of ocarina in Taiwan. 5. The marketing way will affect the result. 6. The promotion of ocarina in Taiwan is learner-oriented in the use of musical instrument, teaching materials and price. It offers various kinds of more convenient learning. 7. Ocarina has the advantage of musical instrument learning in Taiwan. It already has slightly effect in teaching, recreation, and medical treatment, which has caused people from different fields to join the ranks promoted.
