碩士 === 國立臺南大學 === 國語文學系國語文教學碩士班 === 94 === This research was conducted based on the “analysis of literature”, “analysis of text” and “interview”. First, the study employed the “analysis of literature”, which provides data for further investigation on development of era, influence of history, track of literature development, growth of the author and his life experiences. Second, the “analysis of text” was researched according to Xiang Yang’s written and electronic poems, addition to other scholars’ and poets’ critic on his collection. Finally, the researcher interviewed Xiang Yang either face to face or by telephone or e-mailed him directly with relevant issues. The number of Xiang Yang’s modern poems from 1974 to 2003 conducted in this study amounts to 268. Chapter one provides the summary of research background. Chapter two refers to a discussion about the age and literature background. Chapter three presents the author’s life and mind experiences. Chapter four is divided into four sections – thoughts on person, thoughts on societies, thoughts on nature and thoughts on events, which verify the poet’s imagination. Chapter five focuses on the form of the poem. In this chapter, including four sections – the meter, structure, image and rhetoric. Last, the final chapter presents the conclusion that portrays the characteristic and contributions of Xiang Yang’s poems. It also provides suggestions for further researchers. Xiang Yang is famous of his ten-line poems and Taiwanese poems in the modern poetry community. His creation lasts more than thirty years that his poems worth appreciating in light of his personal insistence and features.
