However, users can copy, alter and distribute the multimedia content easily. Thus, how to protect the content’s rights from the un-authorized access and other illegal accesses becomes an important issue. The digital rights management (DRM) system has been developed and proposed to protect the intellectual property rights of contents and prevent illegal behaviors of users. Only the authorized user can play the video correctly. In this thesis, we have proposed a DRM system for video based on the motion vector inversion. By using this method not only the authorized user can watch the video but also the un-authorized can watch the video in low quality. Our DRM system also shows the overall procedure if the user wants to buy the video and our system can be applied to the block based video encoding standards such as MPEG, MPEG-2, MPEG-4, and H.264 etc. We provide the flexible, if in the future there is a better algorithm that can be easily applied to our system.
