Summary: | 碩士 === 國立臺中教育大學 === 特殊教育與輔助科技研究所 === 94 === The purpose of this study was to assess the effectiveness of reciprocal instruction on Chinese character recognition, literal meaning comprehension and inferential comprehension on reading picture books for second grade students in elementary school.
An experiment with pretest-posttest nonequivalent-control-group design was conducted. The subjects were 59 second- grade students in 2 classes from an elementary school in Tai-Chung County. Thirty students in one class were assigned to the experimental group, and twenty-nine students in the other class were to the control group. The experimental group received two section of each week, and 10 units of reciprocal teaching instruction. The control group received two section of each week, and 10 units of story-telling teaching. Each unit was taught in 80 minutes, and 800 minutes were needs for all of the 10 teaching units. The experiment was extended for a period of 10 weeks.
The results of this experiment were as the following:
1.Regarding the “Chinese Character Recognition”:
There was high significant difference between the experimental group and the control group on the scores of the “Chinese Character Recognition Scale ”.
2.Regarding the “Literal Meaning Comprehension”:
There was high significant difference between the experimental group and the control group on the scores of the “The Literal meaning Comprehension Test. ”
3.Regarding the “Inferential Comprehension”:
There was no significant difference between the experimental group and the control group on the scores of the subscales of the “Chinese Reading Comprehension Test”.
4.The experimental group held positive attitude toward reciprocal teaching instruction, which will promote their another curriculum.
