A cross-sectional survey of 239 valid college freshmen was conducted and the total valid respond rate was 12.88%. The average usuage for the respondents is 1.45 timesper year. The average injury and discomfort is 0.84 yearly. The most common types of injury and discomfort were sunburn (48.87%), followed by chokingand abrasion. Most of the respondents (99.83%) didn’t need medical care for their slight injury. The average Body Mass Index (BMI)of the respondents was at 50 percentile compare with the norm for the students of same age . The score of sensation seeking was at medium level but was higher than junior high school students and adults. The score of risk behaviors and environment factors was at low level. According to ANOVA, sensation seeking and swimming ability were significantly associated with risk behaviors. Overweight and environment maintainance was positively predictive to injuries and discomforts. The results from multiple linear regression analysis identify that sensation seeking can significantly predict risk behaviors. Both Individual factors and environment factors are predictors to injuries and discomforts. Multiple linear regression analysis also showed the result in predicting the relationship of individual factors, risk behaviors and environment factors fell short of our expectation. It might be that risk behaviors was an intermediate variable and had only an indirect influence. Both convenience sampling and survey using arecall method might affect the research results.
