Subjects managed at an osteo medical clinic of Taipei city Hospital were included. The inclusion criteria were age>45, the mild and moderate OA Knee by ASI criteria.The 16 subjects in the experimental group received balneotherapy 6 per week for tow weeks without regular medical treatment. The 10 subjects in control group received is same with above, but without balneotherapy. All subjects received X-ray of Knee and Outcome Measure Instrument for Medical Care of the Knee Osteoarthritis questionnaire prior to the operation (pre-test) 2weeks later (post-test) and 1month later (post post-test). The experimental group received third measurement at the end of operation for 4weeks (post post-test). The statistical analysis applied in data analysis included percentage, mean, standard deviation, chi-square, Kruskal-Wallis test, Wilcoxon signed-rank test, Friedman analysis of variance by ranks, and Mann-Whitney U test. The results indicated that subjects in the experimental group had improvement in 2weeks of after balneotherapy, while subjects in the control group did not. The present study implies that balneotherapy were effective in release of Knee pain and quality of life of patients with mild and moderate OA Knee. The results of this study could be used as a reference for health professionals in OA Knee management.
