The purpose of this research is to discuss the effectiveness on how the Qi-Gong can affect the middle aged women for the changes of the BMI, perimenopausal disturbance, sleep quality when Qi-Gong was intervened. A quasi experiment was designed for this research. In the experiment, 52 inhabitants in two different subdivisions of the district were chosen to be the study objects by convenience sampling. Twenty five objects, categorized as the treatment group, took a 10 to 15 minutes Qi-Gong exercise in their daily life twice a day, in the morning and in the afternoon for 8 weeks while the 27 objects, categorized as the control group, maintained the normal life as usual. The data of the pre-test, post-test (four weeks after the intervention of the Qi-Gong exercise) and the achievement test of the BMI, perimenopausal disturbance and sleep quality were collected for comparing the effectiveness between the treatment group and control group. The GEE model was employed for statistic analysis to proceed the cross comparisons with repeated measurements of the time and between-groups. The result of this research indicates 1. the change of the BMI had statistically significant difference (β=-0.3519,P<0.005) after 8 weeks. 2. the outcome of the cross comparison with time and between-groups for perimenopausal disturbance did not reach the significant difference level statistically. 3. concerning the sleep quality, 3 sub-variables had the effectiveness after the 8 weeks interventions: the subjective sleep quality (β=-0.6311,P=0.0010), the sleep duration (β=0.8726,P=0.0008) and the daytime dysfunction (β=-0.3822,P=0.0374). Conclusion: the 8 week Tai-Chi-Qi-Gong exercise has effectiveness for women in the treatment group as below: 1. to slow down the increase of the BMI. 2. to improve the subjective sleep quality and daytime dysfunction and to shorten the sleep duration. The result of the research can be a reference for the women with menopause when they do home exercises. lee-ing Tsao 曹麗英 2006 學位論文 ; thesis 123 zh-TW
